Кислый цитоплазматический белок, участвующий в контроле экспрессии генов, модификации и деградации мРНК путем специфического связывания с рибонуклеазой; кроме того, И.р. связан с процессами развития ряда опухолей в случае потери способности ингибировать ангиогенин (опухолеродный фактор, обладающий РНКазной активностью); ген И.р. человека (молекулярная масса белка 50 кД), RNH, локализован на участке p15.5 хромосомы 11 и ассоциирован с протоонкогеном HRAS.
